"Narongsak Osoththanakorn, the commander of rescue operation, said the large number of rescue workers now in the cave had lowered oxygen levels and workers were feeding a 5km cable to where the boys have been sheltering to pump fresh air into the cavern."

Triste nyheter:

"BCRC Officers are saddened by news of the death of Saman Kunan, a volunteer, former Thai Navy diver involved in the rescue operation in Tham Luang Nang Non Cave, N. Thailand.

All British cave rescuers are full of admiration for the work being done by the Thai divers and we are saddened to learn that one of them has paid with his life. We wish to convey the sympathy of all in the British Cave Rescue Council and its member rescue teams to the Thai commander and the diver’s companions and family.

This demonstrates in stark terms, the dangers associated with the cave environment, especially those characterised by long sections of passage with deep water or those entirely filled with water (sumped). It also underlines the difficulties of the operation to rescue those trapped underground."

«... and a pile of A clamp adaptors" stated Gavin Newman. The Thai air cylinders are fitted with A clamp valve fittings, and the British divers all have DIN first stages on their regulators. The divers are therefore having to fly in adaptors so that the local cylinders can be used.»

«The divers are flying 13 cylinders, four rebreathers, tubs of sofnolime (a substance that absorbs carbon dioxide in a rebreather), three drysuits and a pile of A clamp adaptors" stated Gavin Newman. The Thai air cylinders are fitted with A clamp valve fittings, and the British divers all have DIN first stages on their regulators. The divers are therefore having to fly in adaptors so that the local cylinders can be used.»

"Last night and later this morning, five key cave rescuers will travel from the UK to Thailand. Some are divers, others will perform a co-ordinating, surface control function. We are grateful for support received from several UK Search and Rescue (UK SAR) partners who assisted today with the logistical tasks to get people and specialist kit on flights."

"We are aware of a new initiative to divert streams and rivers from any inlets identified above the cave (sinks and fissures) to reduce the underground water flow rate. This is established practice in cave rescue and has proven effective in cave rescue efforts associated with other river caves, not least for Ogof Ffynnon Ddu (OFD) main streamway in South Wales when cavers become trapped underground during flood. At Tham Luang Nang Non Cave, surface searches continue for alternative routes in to the cave."

Ny oppdatering fra BCRC (British Cave Rescue Council)

Grotten er ganske flat: "The French survey comment about the elevation (dénivelé) is "close to zero, not calculated (too much error over such a distance)". This is why the altitude of the end of the cave is unknown."
